Harare Historical & Cultural Tour
This tour gives special emphasis on Zimbabwe's history and culture with highlights such as the pre colonial, colonial and post colonial history of the country. By end of the tour clients will have a better understanding of the country's background which shapes the country's history and future politically, economically and socially
The tour starts by pick up from the place of accommodation followed by a brief introduction of the tour and drive to the following places;
Africa Unity Square
Formerly known as the Cecil Square during the colonial times was a symbolic place that was designed in resemblance of the Union Jack Flag and this is best seen from some of the high rise buildings in the area
Parliament, Executive and Judiciary Buildings
Please note we only see some of the places from outside for Protocol reasons
The next stop will be at the buildings housing the different arms of the state as stated above and at this point the Guide will give a detailed account of the functions of each respective arm
This will be followed by a drive through the city with the Guide pointing out some of the landmark buildings such as the reserve of Zimbabwe building, Harare Gardens, Town House and shopping malls
Harare Kopje (Hill)
Formerly known as the Salisbury Kopje, this was the final stop for the Pioneer Column on arrival on 12 September 1890 which was named Fort Salisbury to mark the official occupation of the country
From the summit of this hill the Guide will give another detailed account of the country and show clients a 360' view of the city
Mbare Township
Formerly know as Harare Township this is the oldest township in Harare which was home for the workforce in the nearby industrial and commercial businesses. Clients are taken through some of the historic sites namely Amai Musodzi Hall and Stodart Halls as well as a drive through the biggest fruit & vegetable market and country bus station where buses to the different parts of the country are found
Chiremba Balancing Rocks (Epworth)
This is a place where clients will see some balancing rocks that are all sitting on top of the other in a very amazing way. These balancing rocks are found on some of Zimbabwe's important documents as well as on the local currency
The tour will end by a drive back to the hotel or place of accommodation with an optional stop at the art & crafts markets or a selection restaurants that serve local traditional dishes
